The legend of #1 baseball prospect , and 2009 Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Jason Heyward continues to grow with each Spring Training swing the 20 year old slugger takes. Jason Heyward has hit towering shots throughout Braves Camp so far, with several balls hit to or over the Champion Stadium parking lot.
One of Heyward’s swings caused $3,400 in damage behind the right field parking lot with an 440 foot blast. Bobby Cox has said that the Braves will install protective netting because Heyward was, “Smashing too many cars”, and later compared him to Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle.
Jason Heyward is now drawing comparisons to previous 20 year old baseball prodigies like Alex Rodrgiuez, Andruw Jones, and Miguel Cabrera. There is very little that Heyward cant do on the diamond. He can hit for speed or power, take walks, steal bases, plays a strong outfield, and has a good throwing arm.
Jason Heyward is the very definition of a five tool player. The “Jason Heyward home runs” might have gained national attention recently, but Heyward was already on atop many scouts lists for his size. Make sure you park your car behind the “Jason Heyward nets” if you attend a Braves game!
